Baya Brighton is looking forward to her first year at Whitney Briggs University, new friends, dorm life, and finally being close to her brother again. Love is the last thing on the list, but when Baya meets her brother's roommate she begins to have thoughts and feelings that make even her blush.
Bryson Edwards has a secret he prefers buried in the past and long forgotten. He prefers loose girls, fast cars, and long nights working the strings of bars his family owns. When his roommate's sister shows up on the scene, she's far too innocent and sweet for him but he can't shake Baya out of his mind and worse, it looks likes she's seeping into his heart as well.
Baya seems determined to show her brother she's not a little kid and equally determined to use Bryson's body to prove her point. It's been made pretty clear that Baya is off limits to Bryson but their undeniable sparks explode into a whole lot more than just a few 3:AM kisses.
In
3:AM Kisses Baya is the ultimate good girl, but she wants to shed this persona and start over at university. Although there's clearly a giant flaw in her plan in the form of her overly protective big brother. So obviously the next step in her master plan is to seduce her brothers roommate. Which makes
perfect sense.
It isn't Baya that decides to pursue Bryson, oh no, during her first moments on campus her top falls down, flashing the goods to Bryson. And I'm sorry, but is that at all realistic? Overall, one of my main problems with this book was that it's SO unrealistic, to the point I found it hard to engage with the characters.
Baya doesn't stay in her dorm room long, her roommate is constantly having sex with guy after guy. Yes, this would get annoying. But I wouldn't move out before ever talking to the girl, clearly you would talk to her about it first. That wouldn't do for Baya though, she went and moved in with her brother, and, you guessed it, Bryson!
Baya has a lot of comedic moments in the book, she's meant to be a funny character. Although I did find her funny, a lot of the time the comedy felt out of place. Her dialogue was very over the top, and you just know that NO ONE speaks like that!
Let's move on to Bryson, along with Baya's brother Cole, he's the ultimate playboy, actually keeping a record of the amount of girls he's slept with using notches on his wall! But then he meets Baya and stops all the casual flings (cliché or what).
To top off the novel, Bryson has a psychopath girl after him and any girl he dates. Which naturally means that she's going to try and kill Baya. There were to many clichés in this book to count.
It's probably pretty clear that I didn't get on well with this book, I wanted to like it, yet unfortunately it wasn't to be. Have you read
